Jammu: Continuing its action against the social crimes, police on Sunday arrested one bootlegger and seized more than 1,600 illegal liquor bottles in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
A team of Ramnagar Police Station in collaboration with FST team while performing ‘naka’ checking at near Ghas Mandi, they intercepted one auto for checking purpose.
While checking of the vehicle, they recovered 33 boxes (1,630 bottles of 180 ml each) of illicit liquor and arrested its driver namely Gorkhu Ram, resident of Kanah, Ramanagar tehsil on the spot.
In this regard, a case under relevant sections has been registered at Ramnagar Police Station and investigation is on, police said.
Notably, the Udhampur District Police have registered 37 cases in which 640 liters of illicit liquor recovered during the Assembly election period.
