BJP nervous of Cong-NC alliance, announces 4 guarantees for J&K people: Congress Chief Kharge in Srinagar

Jammu: Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday said that he is not going to die till the Congress removes Prime Minister Narendra Modi out of power.

“We will fight to restore statehood in Jammu and Kashmir. I am 83 and not going to die so soon. I will remain alive until PM Modi is out of power,” Kharge said, assuring his partymen of his well-being while addressing a rally in Jasrota constituency of Kathua district where he was forced to pause his speech due to dizziness.

After recovery, Kharge said that he is not going to die so soon and certainly not till the Congress removes Modi out of power.

Earlier, Kharge paid tributes to the police personnel killed in Kathua gunfight.

The Congress president in the beginning said that the government in the Centre never wanted to hold elections.

“If they had intent to hold assembly elections, they would have done it much earlier,” said Kharge, adding that it was only after the Supreme Court order that assembly elections were announced in J&K.

“They (BJP) wanted to run a remote-controlled government through the Lieutenant Governor rule in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

Kharge also alleged that PM Modi was making false promises and lying to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

“These people (BJP) have pushed the youth of Jammu and Kashmir into the darkest era for which PM Modi is responsible,” he stated and promised that the Congress will work for the welfare and development of the region.

Kharge sought votes for Congress candidates appealing to people to support them in the last and final phase of Assembly polls scheduled on October 1.

Jammu, Kathua, Samba and Udhampur districts will go to poll in the last phase. Results will be declared on October 8.
