Jammu: The gunfight broke out between Security Forces and militants after a contact was established on Sunday in the woods of Thanamandi area in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said that based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists, a joint search operation was launched by security forces at Manila Gali in Thanamandi area of Rajouri.
“The contact has been established and few rounds have been fired from both sides and the area is cordoned off,” said police.
Earlier in the day, security forces neutralised one terrorist in an ongoing encounter in Billawar tehsil of Kathua district.
A police spokesman said that in continuation to dealing with the encounter in village Kog (Mandli) in Billawar, one terrorist has been killed in the operation.
On Saturday evening, one Head Constable of J&K Police Bashir Ahmed, made a supreme sacrifice in killing the terrorist.
The other injured police personnel Sukhbir, Dy SP Operations, and ASI Niaz Ahmed are stable and being treated.
Anand Jain, ADGP, Jammu Zone, and Shiv Sharma, DIG Jammu are on the spot and supervising the operation.
“The search operation for the other terrorist is still going on,” the spokesman added.
