Srinagar: In a crackdown on bovine smuggling, Jammu police successfully thwarted an attempt under Operation Kamdhenu, rescuing 27 bovines and seizing a vehicle.
In a statement issued from District Police Headquarters Jammu the Police said that the incident occurred at Naka Sidhra Bridge, where a police team from Police Post Sidhra intercepted a vehicle with registration number JK19A/8638, adding therein that the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 261/2024 was registered at Police Station Nagrota under sections 223/BNS and the PCA Act, Police in its above referred statement said that investigations are going on to track down the fleeing suspect.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that locals have lauded the police’s persistent efforts to combat bovine smuggling, highlighting the importance of such operations in protecting animal welfare.
