Rewari(Haryana): Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently launched a scathing attack on the previous Congress government in Haryana, echoing the sentiments of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a poll rally ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections.
Shah alleged that the state was previously governed by “dealers, dalaals, and damaad,” a phrase he used to emphasize what he described as a corrupt regime before the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power.
Addressing a gathering in Rewari, Shah highlighted the efforts and initiatives undertaken by the BJP government in Haryana, contrasting it with what he characterized as the Congress regime, which he claimed was marked by “cuts, commission, and corruption.”
He asserted, “Under the Congress, the rule of dealers and brokers prevailed. But now, under the BJP government, there are no dealers or brokers, and the question of a son-in-law does not arise.” This statement was a clear reference to the alleged nepotism and corruption associated with the Congress party.
Shah further focused his criticism on the Congress party’s handling of agricultural issues, specifically targeting the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system. He accused Congress of misleading farmers, asserting that they have been deceived in the name of MSP. “Some NGO recently told Rahul Gandhi that he would gain votes by mentioning MSP.
Rahul Baba, do you even know what MSP stands for? Do you understand the difference between Kharif and Rabi crops?” Shah questioned, highlighting his belief that Congress leaders lack a fundamental understanding of agricultural policies. He emphasized the BJP government’s commitment to supporting farmers, stating, “The BJP government of Haryana is buying 24 crops from farmers at MSP.” He challenged Congress leaders to identify any of their governments across the country that have matched this commitment to purchasing crops at MSP, suggesting that the BJP is genuinely invested in the welfare of farmers.
In addition to his criticism of agricultural policies, Shah also addressed comments made by Rahul Gandhi during his recent visit to the United States regarding reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC).
Shah condemned Gandhi’s remarks, saying, “Rahul Baba goes abroad and claims he will end reservations for ST, SC, and OBC communities. They used to accuse us of wanting to abolish reservations, yet he speaks in English overseas about ending them.” Shah asserted that the BJP’s presence in Parliament ensures that such policies remain intact, emphasizing, “As long as there is even one BJP MP in the Parliament, you cannot end reservations.” This statement reinforced the BJP’s commitment to social justice and its defense of reservation policies for marginalized communities.
