Srinagar: A doctor from SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital Jammu, Dr. Tasaduk Hussain Itoo attended international webinar on Adrenal Endocrinology organized by European Society of Endocrinology (ESE).
Briefing about the conditions, Dr Tasaduk said that congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) describes a group of hereditary (inherited) genetic disorders affecting adrenal glands; while as adrenal insufficiency occurs when the adrenal glands don’t make enough of the hormones, cortisol and aldosterone. He said that treatment of CAH depends on the severity of the condition and the goal of treatment is to reduce excessive hormones and replace deficient ones; adding that a person will need to take hormones to replace those that the adrenal glands are not making in adrenal insufficiency. He advised that patients should take medicines exactly as prescribed by their doctor and should also carry a medical alert card or tag at all times to make sure they get proper treatment if there is an emergency. Pertinently, Dr Itoo is a cordial member of European Society of Endocrinology(ESE). The concerned speakers discussed about all aspects of primary adrenal insufficiency, Addison’s disease, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, Conn’s syndrome including others.
