Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) have apprehended a notorious thief and recovered stolen items valued at lakhs in Gharota, Jammu. The accused, Sahil Kumar, son of Ganesh Lal, was taken into custody on September 23, 2024, following a complaint lodged by Mohd Akbar.
In a statement issued from District Police Headquarters Jammu Police said that one Mohd Akbar reported the theft of his HP laptop and accessories from his residence in Kot Badhani, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Jammu, following which the police registered FIR No. 89/2024 under Section 305(A) BNS and initiated an investigation.
Stating that the team, led by SHO Gharota, collected CCTV footage and technical signatures, ultimately identifying Sahil Kumar as the suspect the Police in its statement further said that during questioning the accused confessed his involvement in the commission of crime leading to the recovery of One HP laptop with accessories from his residence and Eight mobile phones from various locations, adding therein that more recoveries are expected as investigation continues. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that the success follows a series of similar crackdowns on theft and burglary in Jammu, including the recovery of stolen machinery worth ₹6.50 lakhs in Gangyal and the solving of two theft cases in Kandi, with stolen property worth lakhs recovered.
