New York, New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the world must adopt a human-centric approach to development and that “success lies in our collective strength, and not in the battlefield” – in allusion to the continuing Ukraine and Middle East conflicts.
In his address at the Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly, the PM also called for reform of the global institutions, which he said is key to their remaining relevant. He said that India had shown the way forward by including the African Union in the G20 during its presidency of the bloc last year. PM Modi said that while terrorism continues to be a threat to global peace and security, he cited cyber, maritime, space as the new emerging theatres of conflict. “In all this I will stress strongly that Global action must match global ambition.” He called for balanced regulation at a global level for responsible use of technology, and for global digital governance to ensure that national security and the territorial integrity of nations is upheld. He said that digital public infrastructure should be a bridge and not a barrier, and offered to share India’s digital public infrastructure with the entire world towards this. PM Modi said that for India One Earth, One Family, One Future is a commitment. This commitment he said is reflected in India’s initiatives like One Earth-One Health, and One Earth-One Sun-One World-One Grid. He said that India will continue to strive in thought, work and deed to protect the rights of all humanity and for global prosperity.
PM’s Address: “We must give priority to human-centric approach. By lifting 250 million people out of poverty in India we have demonstrated that sustainable development can be successful. “We are willing to share our experience with the Global South. “Success lies in our collective strength, not in the battlefield. Reform Of Global Institutions Is Essential, It Is The Key To Relevance: “Permanent membership to the African Union in G20 was an important step in this direction. “While terrorism continues to be a threat to global peace and security, on the other hand cyber, maritime, space are emerging as new theatres of conflict. “In all this I will stress strongly that Global action must match global ambition.”
Need For Balanced Regulation At A Global Level For Responsible Use Of Technology: “We need global digital governance to ensure national security and territorial integrity is upheld. Digital public infrastructure should be a bridge not a barrier. For global good India is ready to share its digital public infrastructure with the entire world.
For India One Earth, One Family, One Future Is A Commitment: This commitment is reflected in our initiatives like One Earth-One Health, and One Earth, One Sun, One World, One Grid. India will continue to strive in thought, work and deeds to protect the rights of all humanity and for global prosperity.”
