Jammu: In a move to combat illegal mining, Jammu Police on Monsay seized four vehicles in the South Zone of District Jammu. This operation was carried out to tighten the noose around violators, particularly during the election period, and protect public resources.
In a statement issued from District Police Headquarters Jammu Police said that the operation was carried out in several locations, with Police Post Phallain Mandal, led by Police Sub Ispector Harish Chander, detaining three vehicles loaded with sand under illegal mining, adding therein that some vehicles lacked registration numbers.
Stating that additionally Police Post Nehru Market, under Police Sub Inspector Ajesh Jamwal, seized one truck/dumper, Police in its statement detailed the details of the seized vehicles, stating three vehicles were seized in the jurisdiction of Police Station Satwari Jurisdiction and one vehicle in the jurisdiction of Police Station Gandhinagar. Police in its statement also said that after detaining the said vehicles, the District Mining Officer was informed for necessary legal actions. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement the Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to protect public property and eradicate the menace of illegal mining in the area.
