Jammu : In a breakthrough, the Jammu police have arrested two thieves and also recovered stolen property worth ₹800,000 from their possession. The thieves, identified as Ashok Kumar Sharma and Sonu Singh, were caught after a thorough investigation by the police team headed by Inspector Rajesh Jasrotia.
In a statement issued from District Police Headquarters Jammu Police said that the investigation of the said case was initiated on September 8 when one Sheikh Ata-Ullah Naz reported the theft of his Alto car and other precious items at Police Post Bathindi following which a case under FIR No. 215/2024 was registered and investigation was taken up.
Police in its statement further said that the recovered items include: Alto Car (Registration No. JK02DA9745), Electronics: Camera Sonica, Digital Ladies Watch, Watch Sico, Laptop Lenovo, Mobile Phone Redmi, LED 42″ Samsung, and Gas Cylinders: HP, Indane, and Bharat besides some additional recovered Items including Laptop Acer and Android Mobile Phones (Samsung, Panasonic, Realme, and Realmi).
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said the team tasked the job of investigation analysed CCTV footage, gathered human intelligence, and utilized technical support to track down the suspects, adding therein that suring questioning, the thieves confessed their involvement in the crime and revealed their involvement in other thefts also.
