Jammu: An encounter between militants and security forces broke out in the Reasi district on Friday evening following a cordon and search operation launched by the police and security forces based on specific intelligence.
A senior police officer confirmed that the operation was initiated after receiving precise input about terrorist activity in the area. “As the joint team approached the suspected location, the militants opened fire, resulting in an exchange of gunfire,” the officer said.
The District Police Reasi also confirmed the operation through a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “On receipt of specific intel, an operation was launched around 1300 hours today. Contact has been established with the militants at the Shikari area of PS Chassana.”
The situation remains tense as security forces continue the operation in the rugged terrain of Reasi. Further details are awaited as the encounter unfolds.
