Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested three gamblers in Sopore and also recovered stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on a specific inputs regarding gambling activities at Behrampora, a police party of Police Post Watergam, raided the specific spot, but on seeing the Police party gamblers tried to flee but were apprehended. Stating that the said three gamblers were identified as Mohammad Iqbal Mir S/o Ghulam Mohiudin Mir, Liyaqat Amin Ganie S/o Mohammad Amin Ganie and Riyaz Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, all residents of Behrampora Rafiabad , Police in its statement further said that one gambler namely Hilal Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ghulam Nabi Sheikh R/o Behrampora Rafiabad fled from the spot, adding therein that the stake money of ₹8,800/- & playing cards were recovered from their possession and a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Dangiwacha besides initiating invesrigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to share inputs about the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
