Srinagar: The Vice President J&K National Party Omar Abdullah Thursday cautioned people against the BJP’s attempts of gaining control of the J&K assembly.
Addressing election rallies during his tour of various villages in Budgam Constituency Omar emphasized that the National Conference stands as a premier political party with a rich history spanning over nine decades of dedicated service. “The party is keenly aware of the challenges faced by the people of Kashmir, ranging from soaring inflation and high unemployment rates to bureaucratic red tape, the unjust imprisonment of young individuals, lack of development, rising electricity costs, and dwindling ration supplies. The hardships are indeed numerous and pressing. The solution to these critical issues lies within the hands of the people themselves. On the 25th of September, all it takes is a simple click on the NC symbol. This action holds the key to addressing and resolving the multitude of issues that continue to plague our people.”
Omar posed a crucial question regarding the message people wish to convey to the world regarding the decisions made in August 2019. He said, “Do you wish to endorse these actions or express your disapproval? If you support the decisions, then vote for the BJP. However, if you oppose the decisions, it is imperative to vote against the BJP and its allies. The upcoming elections carry immense significance as they will reflect the sentiments of Kashmiris towards the decisions that have threatened their identity. Therefore, if you wish to send a clear message to the world that these decisions were unacceptable, the time to act is now. Any misstep during this critical period will only serve to aid the BJP in distorting the truth on a global scale. Now is the time to stand up, make your voice heard, and take action for the betterment of Kashmir and its people. The power lies within your hands – use it wisely.”
He stressed the importance of choosing the right government, as it could have a profound and enduring impact on the region. “It is imperative for voters to thoughtfully weigh their options and rally behind a shared vision for the advancement of Jammu and Kashmir. If the BJP gains control of the JK assembly, they will tout it as validation of their actions on August 5, 2019. To prevent this, we must mobilise and express our dissent through the power of our vote. It is crucial for the future of Jammu and Kashmir that we make our voices heard at the polls.”
