Srinagar : Prime Minister NarendraModi is set to visit Srinagar on September 19 to address an election rally, marking a significant moment in the ongoing campaign of the BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP).
Dr. Nirmal Singh, Chairman of the J&K BJP’s Manifesto Committee and former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasized the importance of these elections, describing them as a reflection of the success of India’s democratic process, especially in light of the strong voter turnout in the recent LokSabha elections. He acknowledged the efforts of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in upholding democratic values despite external pressures.
Detailing the Prime Minister’s visit, Dr. Singh noted, “This rally is unique as it is PM Modi’s first in Srinagar since Article 370’s abrogation. His previous visits have focused on direct communication with the people, particularly the youth.” Dr. Singh stated that the BJP is committed to bringing peace and development to Jammu and Kashmir, with a focus on ending decades of violence and separatism that have hindered the region’s progress.
Referring to the party’s manifesto, titled ‘SankalpYatra,’ Dr. Singh outlined BJP’s goals, including harnessing Jammu and Kashmir’s untapped tourism potential, water resources, and solar energy capabilities. “We aim to move beyond the past politics of conflict and bring forward a new era of growth and stability,” he said.
Dr. Singh also highlighted BJP’s employment promises, including the creation of five lakh jobs, support for UPSC and PSC aspirants, and financial assistance to senior women in each family. He criticized political opponents for what he called “hollow slogans” and urged the public to support BJP’s vision for a “Double Engine” government to drive comprehensive development in the region.
He further called upon the youth to contribute to Prime Minister Modi’s vision of ‘Naya Kashmir,’ based on the principles of ‘Sab KaSaath, Sab KaVikas, Sab KaVishwas, Sab KaPrayas.’ Dr. Singh encouraged widespread participation in the upcoming rally, expressing confidence that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will support the Prime Minister’s vision for a more prosperous future.
