Jammu In a move to curb bootlegging ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, Jammu Police on Monday arrested two individuals and recovered 12 bottles and 3 quarters of illicit liquor in Sub-Division Nagrota.
In a statement issued from District Police Headquarters Jammu Police said that a police party from Police Station Jhajjar Kotli, along with an SST team, set up a checkpoint at Naka Suketar to inspect vehicles and during the checking stopped an Auto Magic bearing registration number JK20-9420 and upon inspection found illicit liquor including 11 bottles of J&K Special Whisky (750ml each), 1 bottle of Imperial Blue Whisky (750ml), 2 quarters of JK Whisky (180ml each) and 1 quarter of Imperial Blue Whisky (180ml).
Police in its statement further said that two individuals, Mangal Wishwas and Shabir Ahmed, were arrested in connection with the seizure and a case was registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli. According to police statement the locals have lauded he swift action of police against bootlegger.
