Jammu: Jammu Police on Monday arrested five drug peddlers and seized heroin-like substance in two separate incidents in the Nagrota area of District Jammu.
In a statement issued from District Police Headquarters Jammu Police said that under the operation “Sanjeevani,” a police party from Police Station Nagrota intercepted two vehicles, Alto K10 and Maruti 800, during Naka checking duty, adding therein that approximately 20-22 grams of heroin-like substance were recovered from the first vehicle, leading to the arrest of three individuals identified as Sunny Kumar, Ashan Ali, and Aqib Farooq, all residents of Doda. Police in its statement further said that in the second incident, around 8-10 grams of heroin-like substance were seized from the Maruti 800, resulting in the arrest of two accused identified as Arshad Ahmed and Bilal Ahmed, both from Srinagar.
Stating that the police team of Police Station Nagrota, led by SHO Nagrota, registered two FIRs (248/2024 and 249/2024) under the NDPS Act, marking a decisive step towards curbing the drug trade in the area, Police in the concluding para of its above referred statement appealed people to remain vigilant against the scourge of drugs and report any suspicious activities promptly.
