Drug peddler arrested in Awantipora, contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by SHP Police Station Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora during naka checking at Larkipora arrested one drug peddler identified as Ajaz Ahmad Shah S/o Gh Mohd Shah R/o Larkipora Awantipora , adding therein that during checking, 21.4Kgs of Charas like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case under FIR No: 135/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora besides initiating further investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its committment to eliminating drug peddling and appealed people to report any information about such illegal activities to help protect the youth from falling victim to addiction.
