VFC for Staff on election duty, PVC for essential services established at Shopian for Zainapora & Shopian ACs

More than 1000 voters to exercise voting rights from 14 to 16, September; 194 votes cast on Day 01 at VFCs & 116 at PVCs in both ACs

Shopian : In pursuance to the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines, the District Election Officer, Shopian has made provisions for staff detailed for election duties and essential services staff to cast their vote at Voter Facilitation Centres (VFCs) and Postal Voting Centres (PVCs) respectively, established for both AC- Shopian and Zainapora.
The voting has started Saturday at Voter Facilitation Centres of Zainapora AC and Shopian AC at GDC Shopian and at Postal Voting Centres, established at Mini Secretariat, Shopian, enabling staff on election duty and essential services staff to cast their votes.
Two facilitation centres have been established at GDC Shopian viz; Sir Mohammad Iqbal Hall for staff ( voters) on election duties of Zainapora AC and in Sir Syed Hall for staff (Voters) on election duties of Shopian AC.
The voting at Facilitation Centre is scheduled during training hours at GDC Shopian and at Postal Voting Centres at Mini Secretariat from 9 AM to 5 P.M during 14-16 September.
The voters on election duty include staff like polling parties, drivers, conductors of transport, Micro- Observers, media and other voters. More than 600 staff on election duty have applied for voting at Facilitation Centres, out of which 194 voters have voted Saturday.
Likewise, three Postal Voting Centres have also been established, one for 36- Zainapora, one for 37- Shopian and one for other districts at Mini Secretariat, Shopian for voters of district who belong to essential services like, Police, Health, Jal Shakti, Media, Transport, Fire and Emergency, Municipal Council.
More than 500 essential services staff have applied for the postal voting at PVCs, out of which 116 have voted Saturday.
