Jammu: In a maiden initiative, Jammu police has started proceedings under Section 84 BNSS against a PSA absconder, Mohd Asgar @ Tola, who has been evading arrest for a long time.
The proceedings were set in motion under the supervision of SSP Jammu against Asgar, a history sheeter of PS Channi Himmat, who was wanted in connection with a warrant issued by DM Jammu. Proclamation proceedings were issued by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu, directing Asgar to surrender before the competent authority within 30 days, failing which legal action will be taken. The notice was served to Asgar’s family members and pasted on prominent places in Chowadhi by a joint team of Police Station Channi Jammu. This initiative has been hailed by locals, citizens, and netizens as a deterrent to other criminal elements. The move is in line with the Election Commission of India’s directions to take punitive action against absconders and criminals evading arrest.
