Jammu : An army soldier was injured during an encounter with militants along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district on Saturday, officials reported.
Defense sources said that army troops intercepted a group of infiltrators attempting to infiltrate into Indian territory in the Kalal area of Nowshera sector, leading to an exchange of fire.
During the exchange of fire, a soldier sustained injuries while infiltrators managed to escape from the scene. After the face-off, joint forces launched a massive search operation in the area.
This marks the second infiltration attempt by militants in Nowshera within the past week. In the same sector on 9 September, army had claimed that it neutralized two infiltrators. Earlier, on 3 September, there was a brief encounter between militants and joint forces in Karyote village of Rajouri.
