Election Expenditure Observers sensitize Contesting Candidates on election related expenditure

Budgam: The Election Expenditure Observers for Budgam District, Ravinder Kumar and Avinash Kaur Kalsi on Friday chaired a meeting with contesting candidates and their representatives at Conference Hall, Budgam.
At the outset, the Observers sensitized the candidates regarding maintenance of expenditure registry, opening and maintaining separate bank accounts, inspections of registries and candidates’ facilitation.
The meeting was attended by contesting candidates and their representatives from Budgam, Beerwah, Kahnsahib, Charar-i-Sharief and Chadoora assembly segments of the district.
Sensitizing the participants regarding expenditure limits, the observers maintained that the shadow registry of all contesting candidates are being maintained by the expenditure monitoring teams in all constituencies.
They also took assembly wise review of arrangements for the ensuing assembly elections in the district.
Nodal officer Expenditure (DTO) Showkat Ahmad apprised the observers regarding the status of Flying Squad Teams (FSTs), Static Surveillance Teams (SSTs), Media Certification and Monitoring Committees (MCMC), Training, Model Code of Conduct (MCC) adherence, Expenditure Monitoring, and the functioning of the 24×7 Control Room.
The Expenditure Observers in their addresses to the meeting stressed on ensuring a free and fair election process. They instructed the expenditure monitoring and other teams to remain vigilant regarding any illegal movement of contraband and transactions of any inducements.
