Qazigund: Security has been beefed up along Jammu-Srinagar national highway ahead of General elections to legislative assembly in the first phase of the General Elections, scheduled for September 18.
An official told that on the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulgam Sahil Sarangal extra security measures have been implemented along Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Qazigund to ensure incident free elections in the region.
“Checkpoints have been erected in many places along Jammu-Srinagar NH and frisking has been intensified. Security personnel are seen at many places stopping and checking the vehicles”, he said.
Notably: The first Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election in a decade will be held in three phases on September 18, 25 and October 1, This will also be the first Assembly poll in J&K since Article 370 was abrogated in 2019.
