Boiyar, Uri : The thrombolysis was successfully performed under the direct supervision of the Block Medical Officer by a dedicated team led by Dr.Syed Raza along with Dr. Ayaz Mohi-ud-Din Wani, Dr. Faisal, Bilal Ahmad (paramedic staff), and Showkat Ahmad (lab technician).
Reports said that a patient without an attendant presented to the General OPD at PHC Boniyar with acute chest pain. Dr. Syed Raza , Casualty Medical officer on duty, attended to the patient and advised an ECG. The results indicated an inferior wall myocardial infarction (MI). The patient was immediately shifted to the Emergency Room, where further basic tests were conducted, and a loading dose was administered as per protocol. Repeated ECGs confirmed the need for thrombolysis ASAP However, the procedure was initially delayed due to the absence of an attendant. The patient’s son was contacted, and although he assured that he would arrive soon, he did not reach well in time. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the case was discussed in the office of Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Khan, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Boniyar who instructed the medical team to proceed with treatment without further delay, as time was a critical factor for the patient’s survival.
The thrombolysis was successfully performed under the direct supervision of the Block Medical Officer by a dedicated team led by Dr.Syed Raza along with Dr. Ayaz Mohi-ud-Din Wani, Dr. Faisal, Bilal Ahmad (paramedic staff), and Showkat Ahmad (lab technician). The patient’s condition stabilized, and the chest pain subsided. Subsequently, the patient was transferred to SKIMS Srinagar in 108 free ambulance service for further treatment, including CAG and possible PCI procedures. As of now, the patient is stable and undergoing further care.
It is worth noting that PHC Boniyar has successfully performed multiple thrombolysis procedures to date. This particular case, however, was unique as it was carried out without formal consent from a family member, due to the absence of an attendant. Nevertheless, the dedication and commitment of the team ensured the highest quality of care.PHC Boniyar is fully equipped with the latest medical equipment, enabling the facility to provide lifesaving treatments. Special recognition is due to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Baramulla for providing Inj. Tenecteplase, a life-saving drug costing around ₹50,000, which was provided free of cost to the patient and made the procedure possible. The continuous support from the Administrative Secretary Health, Director Health Services Kashmir, and the Chief Medical Officer Baramulla has been instrumental in empowering PHC Boniyar to manage critical cardiac patients, even in this remote border area of North Kashmir.Block Medical Officer Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Khan extends his heartfelt thanks to the administration for their support and for acknowledging the dedication of the Boniyar medical team including BPMU whose efforts continue to save precious lives.
