Animal Infertility Awareness Camp Successfully Held in Magraypora Sopore

Srinagar :The Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir, in collaboration with KrishiVigyan Kendra (KVK) Bandipora-1 on Wednesday organized an Animal Infertility Awareness Camp at MagrayporaSopore, District Baramulla. The event, sponsored by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, was aimed at tackling livestock infertility and enhancing animal health in the region.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office SKUAST-K here, with active participation from local villagers, the camp addressed key concerns regarding the reproductive health of animals and provided expert advice on improving their well-being. A dedicated team of Veterinary Specialists from the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, SKUAST-Shuhama, examined a total of 154 animals during the camp. Specialists including Prof. AfzalHoqueAkand, Head, Division of Veterinary A.H Extension, Dr. ArjumaKhatoon, Associate Professor, Division of ARGO, Dr. Mehrajud Din, Associate Professor, Division of Veterinary Surgery & Radiology, and Dr. GhRasool, Assistant Professor, Division of ARGO, provided on-the-spot treatment for various ailments. Essential medicines were also distributed to ensure ongoing care for the animals.
The camp was further supported by the active engagement of Prof. Poonam Sharma, Manager ATIC SKUAST-K Shalimar, Dr. Tariq Sultan, Programme Coordinator KVK Bandipora-1, Dr. TahirSaleem and Dr. Shabir Ahmad Scientists of KVK Bandipora whose involvement contributed to the success of the event.
The local community expressed happiness on the initiative, which brought essential veterinary services directly to their doorstep. This camp underscores the ongoing commitment of SKUAST-Kashmir and the government to improving the welfare of livestock farmers and promoting sustainable animal husbandry practices in the region.
