Srinagar: The people’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the prestigious Lal Chowk Constituency, Zuhaib Yousuf Mir on Tuesday held an impressive rally at the historic Ghanta Ghar, Srinagar and pledged to fight for the respect, dignity and honour of the people of Kashmir.
While addressing his supporters Zuhaib Mir recalled that Lal Chowk is the same place where the first Indian prime minister Pandit Nehru had unfurled the tricolor. There used to be another flag in Kashmir and that flag was our identity but the BJP regime at New Delhi ended our identity, Zuhaib told the enthusiastic supporters.
The flag of Kashmir was finished by BJP and since then we truly feel dishonored and disrespected. Kashmir must be a small territory for BJP but it is our dream land where we live. We want to live honorably which is not possible without the restoration of our constitutional rights. He told people that BJP first broke the PDP led government then broke the PDP and finally the Art. 370 and 35A. However, PDP is on its way to fight for the constitutional rights of the people of Kashmir, Zuhaib roared.
He said that Lal Chowk is the heart of Kashmir and in the heart of Lal chowk, one can feel and see the injuries since 2019 when our identification was snatched. He challenged the BJP for talking about the development of Kashmir and said that our hundreds of youth are behind bars for no crime at all. Even passport issuance is being used as a weapon by New Delhi and its local agents, how can anybody claim that Kashmir has witnessed development? To install a few lights on roads and lay some tiles in some selected footpaths cannot be called the development. PDP and Kashmiri people want peace with dignity and honour, not the peace of graveyards and that is the real development.Zuhaib Mir said that in 1987 the democracy was murdered by the then New Delhi government which resulted in a bloody revolt in Kashmir. He concluded and said that this election is important for the people of Kashmir. They have to use their vote as a tool and means to protest against what has been done to all of us in August 2019. I hope and appeal to the people to come in large numbers on the days of polling and vote against the 2019 decision by voting in favor of the PDP. PDP pledges to fight for the snatched constitutional rights of the people till the last breath, Zuhaib assured the people amid claps and sloganeering
