Expenditure Observer briefs candidates, representatives of Political Parties regarding maintenance of Expenditure Registers

Srinagar: In order to ensure transparency of financial expenditures incurred by Candidates during electioneering, the Expenditure Observer(EO) for Assembly Constituencies of 19-Hazratbal, 20-Khanyar, 21-Habakadal and 22- Lal Chowk, Capt. Pradeep Shoury Arya Tuesday convened a meeting of Contesting Candidates of General Elections to the Legislative Assembly 2024.
The meeting was also attended by Returning Officers and Assistant Expenditure Observers of these Constituencies.
Addressing the meeting, EO informed Candidates & representatives of Candidates that they should open a new bank account for the expenditure spending during election campaigning.
He informed them that the expenditures should be made only using the new bank account.
They were directed to use only cheque book for the payments and avoid cash payments.
The maximum limit of cash payment is ten thousand rupees for the entire Election process.
EO informed them that the Election Department has notified a uniform rate list to avoid any doubt in making entries in the registers.
They were also asked to submit their expenditure registers during the election process for periodic inspection of expenditure.
Meanwhile, participants were imparted the procedure of filling the Part A, B & C of expenditure registers, maintaining daily vouchers, online receipts and making day to day entries in registers.
