Srinagar, Sep 11 (KB): An encounter between terrorists and security forces broke out near the Udhampur-Kathua border on Wednesday.
An official confirmed that the security forces conducted a cordon-and-search operation based on input of terrorists movement in the area.
The search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired on a search party of the forces, who then fired back, he said.
‘’Heavy shooting is ongoing as the security personnel narrow down on their target to ensure that nobody sneaks away’’, the official said.
There is no confirmation of any casualty yet amidst the tense situation, with reinforcements currently being deployed in the area, the official added.
