Srinagar: In view of rising epidemic of diabetes, Kashmir-based medico cum noted health columnist Dr Tasaduk Hussain Itoo launched diabetes education program to create diabetes awareness among masses and listen to queries from diabetic patients and guide them to ensure proper screening, prevention and treatment of their conditions.
In a statement issued, Dr Tasaduk said that diabetes is emerging as a major public health concern, and it is crucial to adopt screening and prevention strategies to early detect and control it to prevent complications; that is why diabetes education is key for the prevention of diabetes. A diabetes education program is an initiative and a structured program that aims to educate individuals with diabetes, their families, and caregivers about the management and self-care of diabetes. The program typically covers topics such as — understanding diabetes; nutrition and meal planning; exercise and physical activity; medication management; blood glucose monitoring; complication prevention; and lifestyle modifications. Pertinently, Dr Itoo is a physician cum diabetes expert and affiliated with prestigious organizations including American College of Physicians(USA), Endocrine Society(USA), European Society of Endocrinology(ESE), Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India(RSSDI), top national diabetes research organization and leading scientific authority of diabetologists in India.
