Jammu : In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on drug-related activities, police arrested two individuals involved in the illegal possession of narcotics.
A police spokesman said that Kanachak Police Station has registered a case FIR No. 139/2024 U/Ss 8/20/29 NDPS Act and accused persons were identified as Sham Lal alias Monu S/o Kali Dass, R/o Kanachak, Jammu and Goverdhan Singh alias Golu S/o Prehlad Singh hailing from village Sohintra in Shergarh, Jodhpur, Rajasthan.“They were apprehended with a substantial quantity of nearly 1Kg of ganja in their possession. Their arrest comes after a targeted operation by the Jammu Police aimed at curbing the flow of drugs in the region,” he said.
The spokesman said that Jammu police is actively pursuing further investigations into the case, with a focus on unraveling the broader network of suppliers and distributors that may be linked to the accused and is looking into all angles and the source of this narcotic supply to ensure a thorough crackdown.
“The arrest marks a significant step forward in the fight against drug trafficking in the area, with police urging the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities that could help curb this growing menace,” he said. He said that the police team of PP Gajansoo successfully executed the recovery operation under the strategic leadership of SHO PS Kanachak. “The operation was closely monitored by the SDPO Domana and the Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural Jammu, ensuring meticulous oversight throughout the process,” the police spokesman said.
