District Level Athletic Meet Kicks Off at University of Jammu

Jammu: The much-anticipated District Level Athletic Meet for All Age Group (AAG) girls commenced on Friday at the University of Jammu, marking the beginning of a dynamic series of athletic events. The meet, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K featured a full day of running, jumping, and throwing events, highlighting the exceptional talent of young female athletes from the region.

The competition, held under the patronage of Rajinder Singh Tara Director General of Youth Services and Sports J&K. More than 200 girls, representing various government schools across the district, participated in this prestigious event, competing in categories that included track events like100m, 400m, and 3000m and field events like Discus Throw, Triple Jump and Long Jump. The primary aim of the meet was to identify and select the top student athletes for forthcoming advanced competitions.

The technical aspects of the competitions were expertly managed by the officials of the Department of YSS.

U-14 Years Girls:

  • 100m Race:
    • Gold: Damanpreet Kour (Zone Bishnah)
    • Silver: Ragini Mehra (Zone Chowki Choura)
    • Bronze: Kushi (Zone Khour)
  • Discus Throw:
    • Gold: Chanchal (Zone Gandhi Nagar)
    • Silver: Palak Choudhary (Zone RS Pura)
    • Bronze: Sonakshi (Zone Jammu)
  • 400m Race:
    • Gold: Sania Choudhary (Zone Dansal)
    • Silver: Simriti Devi (Zone RS Pura)
    • Bronze: Akaira Singh (Zone Miran Sahib)
  • Long Jump:
    • Gold: Sneha (Zone Dansal)
    • Silver: Damanpreet (Zone Bishnah)
    • Bronze: Narseen Kousar (Zone Gandhi Nagar)

    • Gold: Bhumika Jamwal (Zone Marh)

The event highlighted the spirit of sportsmanship and athletic excellence, providing a platform for young girls to showcase their abilities and vie for selection in future competitions.
