Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a militant associate in Pulwama and also recovered hand grenade from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police team of Pulwama Police established a checkpoint at Karimabad Crossing and arrested a militant associate identified as Arsalan Ahmad Sheikh S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh R/o Karimabad and during search recovered a hand grenade was recovered from his possession.
The above referred statement further reads “Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had planned to lob the grenade at the Naka party, posing a serious threat to security forces and public safety but the timely action by the Police thwarted the attack, preventing any potential loss of life or injury”. Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 182/2024, under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pulwama in this connection and further investigation into the case is underway.
