Beerrwah(B’gam): The Government Boys Higher Secondary School Beerwah in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, conducted an awareness program on Thursday the 5th of September on Soil Health and Fertility. The event aimed to sensitize students, teachers, and farmers about the importance of soil health and fertility for sustainable agriculture and the environment.
Principal Javid Ahmad Banday highlighted the crucial role of soil health and fertility, emphasizing that students are effective ambassadors for spreading awareness in society. Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Coordinator of the Soil Health and Fertility Program, stressed the need to prevent land degradation, promote soil conservation, and educate farmers and the public about sound land management. He also emphasized the importance of engaging youngsters in soil wellbeing and sensitizing the public and farmers to soil health management.
Gh Mohiuddin Mir, Lecturer in Chemistry, noted that such events help raise awareness about soil fertility upkeep and bring together stakeholders to protect this vital natural resource. Shayaq Ahmad Mir, Junior Agricultural Officer, briefed the audience on soil analysis, sample collection, interpretation, and soil health cards generation.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mushtaq Ahmad Wani. The event successfully educated participants about the significance of soil health and fertility in sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation.
