Training enables Polling Officials to understand Election system, learn handling, operation of EVMs for error-free election process: DEO Srinagar

Srinagar : In connection with General Elections to Legislative Assembly-2024, the first phase of Election Trainings for all Employees in Srinagar District concludes here on Monday.
The Training Sessions were conducted by District Election Authority Srinagar which will be followed by the Specific Election Trainings after Randomisation as per the guidelines of Election Commission of India(ECI.
The Master Trainers deputed by the District Election Office delivered exhaustive training sessions to equip the participating Employees with skills and knowledge to operate Polling Machinery on the day of Elections in all Eight Assembly Constituencies of Srinagar District.
During the sessions, the participating employees were taken through sensory training particularly on operation of machinery and safety measures to be taken inside polling stations, material and voters. In addition to this, they were also trained how to handle emergencies, manage crowds and to addressing issues of security.
With exhaustive lectures, the Trainers ensured that the Employees have a clear understanding of the election laws, rules and regulations which, as the Election Staff, they have to follow in the election process.
The special instructions were conveyed to the participating employees for strictly following the poll guidelines for conduct of free and fair Assembly Elections in Srinagar.
The Employees were also oriented towards the proper management and the adherence to the Model Code of Conduct(MCC)enforced by the Election Commission of India.
The trainings and hands-on experience sessions were conducted in different sessions with the objective to lay a strong base of well skilled manpower for the smooth and hassle-free elections in 8 Assembly Constituencies in district Srinagar.
Speaking about the Election Trainings, the District Election Officer(DEO) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat said training enables Polling Officials to understand the Election system, learn handling and operation of EVMs to ensure an error-free election process. He also added that the training also educate participants about their role and responsibilities for fair and free conduct of Elections in the District.
The DEO said that training is pivotal to familiarize the staff with EVM & VVPAT operations and get acquainted with necessary knowledge and skills for effectively carrying out their duties during the electoral process.
The trained staff will be deployed to man 932 Polling Stations in Srinagar for which, 26 District Nodal Officers, 40 Assembly Constituency Nodal Officers, 23 Zonal Magistrates and 112 Sectoral Magistrates are working tirelessly to ensure smooth conduct of scheduled elections.
Moreover, 23 Flying Squad Teams (FST), 23 Static Surveillance Teams (SST), 8 Video Surveillance Teams (VST) and 23 Video Viewing Surveillance Teams (VVST) have been put on the job as an extra layer of security and monitoring for the elections.
The robust training sessions are carried out as per the comprehensive schedule prepared by the DEO Srinagar for all the employees of the District for successful conduct of Assembly Elections in Eight Assembly Constituencies of Srinagar.
