2 drug peddlers held in Ang, Psychotropic substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and also recovered huge quantity of psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police team from Police Post Sangam intercepted a bike bearing registration number PB08C-2618 at Panjpora Astanpora driven by one Mohd Abbas Khan son of GhQadir Khan resident of Dadoo Marhama, adding therein that during checking recovered 13 bottles of illicit liquor were seized from the possession of the said accused .
Police in its statement further said that a police party from Police Station Anantnag apprehended a notorious liquor seller identified as Mubarak Ahmad Wagay (alias Muhammad Rajab Wagay) from Khanabal Chowk and also seized 65 bottles of illicit liquor along with a vehicle bearing registration no JK03C-4239. Stating that both the said accused were arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody , Police in its statement furthermore said that the vehicles used in the commission of crime were also seized, adding therein that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
