Senior Citizens Group Of North Kashmir’s Industries Deptt Achieves Milestones

Srinagar: The Senior Citizens Group of Industries North, formed in January 2024, has made significant strides in fostering unity among its members. Comprising around 72 members, the group has held several key meetings since its inception, focusing on strengthening relationships and planning future activities.
The group’s inaugural meeting took place on March 22 this year at the District Industries Center in Baramulla, with 60% of the members in attendance. At the District Industries Centre General Manager Nighat Ara, Accountant of the Centre and other staff members extended all facilities for the conduct of the inaugural meeting. Subsequent gatherings included a meeting at Haji Mohammad Ashraf’s residence in Srinagar a tourism-oriented session at Kaman Post Uri, where nearly 70% of members participated. The group also went on a picnic to Mansbal where several members of the group accorded a warm welcome to the visiting members. The group also called on some of the members on their return from Hajj pilgrimage early this year. In one of the key developments, the group has established sub-groups for different regions to streamline operations and ensure efficient communication. Each sub-group is led by a coordinator. According to the group, “The creation of these sub-groups is aimed at sharing responsibilities and effectively managing group activities.” The group also emphasized its commitment to supporting members during difficult times. Members have regularly gathered for prayers at the homes of those who have lost loved ones. The admin of the group Manzoor Hussain Bukhari said “We made it a point to attend and offer prayers for our fellow members who have suffered personal losses.” Looking ahead, the group plans to conduct three more tourism programs in September and has prepared a list of both current and deceased members. In addition, prayers were offered for several members who are currently unwell. “We are hopeful that all members will actively participate in the upcoming events,” Bukhari said highlighting the importance of continued engagement and mutual support.
