Srinagar|Aug,31: Prominent rights activist Irfan Hafiz Lone is poised to join the Congress party. Lone is expected to join the party today and will likely be the NC-Congress alliance’s candidate for the Wagoora-Kreeri constituency.

As part of the seat-sharing arrangement between the National Conference (NC) and Congress, the Congress will field a candidate for the Wagoora-Kreeri seat, which includes areas from the former Sangrama and Pattan segments.

Lone, with his strong record as a member of the District Development Council Baramulla and his positive relationships with workers from various parties, is anticipated to be the Congress candidate for this seat.

Local news gathering agency KNS quoted Hafiz Lone as saying that need of the hour is the support for unity among political parties in J&K to advance a common cause for the region
