NC-Congress alliance nothing more than ‘marriage of convenience’, Says BJP’s Kavinder in Jammu

Jammu: Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta on Wednesday termed the newly formed alliance between the National Conference (NC) and the Congress as nothing more than a ‘marriage of convenience’ which is going to be temporary as the ‘bonhomie’ is just to remain politically relevant.
In a strongly worded statement issued to media persons, the senior BJP leader asserted that the alliance lacks ideological coherence and is driven solely by the desire to regain power at any cost. “The unity of NC and Congress is a desperate attempt to stay relevant in J&K’s evolving political scenario. Both parties have historically been at odds with each other, with conflicting agendas and priorities. Now, seeing their diminishing influence and the rising popularity of the BJP, they have come together not out of shared vision, but out of sheer opportunism,” he said and added that this short lived unity is a stark reminder of the Congress’ history of aligning with any party for the sake of power, regardless of its impact on people.
“The people have not forgotten how these parties have failed them repeatedly in the past”, he said while asking the party cadre to remain focused and united in their efforts to garner support for BJP. He said that BJP is the only party with a clear vision for J&K’s future, committed to development, security, and good governance. “BJP’s track record speaks for itself. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the party has taken bold steps to integrate J&K with the rest of the country, ensure peace, and promote economic growth. The abrogation of Article 370, the fight against terrorism, and the focus on infrastructure development are all testament to the party’s commitment”, he said and appealed to the people to weigh their options carefully during polls. He said, it is the time for every BJP worker to expose the opportunistic nature of the NC-Congress alliance and to communicate the BJP’s vision and achievements among every vote
