Bandipora: In preparations to General Election to Legislative Assembly 2024, the District Election Office Bandipora on Wednesday organised a comprehensive training programme for micro observers at the Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat Bandipora.
The training session was designed to equip micro observers with the skills and knowledge needed to uphold the integrity and transparency of the electoral process. Participants received detailed instruction on their roles and responsibilities, including the monitoring of voting procedures, observing polling stations and reporting any discrepancies.
On the occasion, District Level Master Trainers Manzoor Ahmad Bhat and M IqbalSamoon provided valuable insights and tools to ensure that observers are well-prepared for their duties ensuring that the elections are conducted in a free and fair manner.
Mega SVEEP Event held at Town Hall Ang
Anantnag: An Awareness programme regarding Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was organized by Chief Education Officer Anantnag on Wednesday at TownhallAnantnag.
The event was held under the overall guidance of the District Election Officer.
Speaking on the occasion, Nodal Officer (SVEEP) educated the masses about the importance of voting and their role in the democratic process. They were also informed about the various initiatives taken by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to increase voter turnout and ensure free and fair elections.
The event witnessed active participation of first-time voters, female Voters, Service Voters and other electors. The aim of the event was to promote enthusiastic participation of voters in the upcoming elections to the Legislative Assembly.
At the conclusion of the event, coordinator SVEEP thanked all the participants for attending the program and requested them to carry the message of SVEEP to one and all for greater participation of the voters in the upcoming Assembly Elections.
DEO Rajouri inspects Strong Rooms, election arrangements Rajouri: District Election Officer (DEO) Rajouri Abhishek Sharma inspected the strong rooms designated for the Assembly Constituencies (AC) of Rajouri and Thanamandi here on Wednesday. The inspections were carried out at the Government Degree College (GDC) Rajouri for AC Rajouri and at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Rajouri for Thanamandi AC.
The DEO emphasized the importance of stringent security measures and directed officials to maintain log book registers at the strong roo He instructed that CCTV cameras be strategically placed to focus directly on the locks of the strong rooms, ensuring continuous surveillance.
Further instructions were issued for the safety and integrity of the strong rooms, including the proper wiring around the rooms, ensuring single entrance for entry, preventing any dampness around the premises, and conducting a thorough fire audit of all strong roo
The DEO also reviewed the parking management for vehicles deployed for election duties, stressing the need for an efficient distribution plan that prioritizes the farthest polling stations.
In addition to these measures, DEO Abhishek Sharma directed the concerned authorities to carry out Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities within the College to enhance voter awareness and participation.
He also directed to nominate the Nodal Officer of the Dispatch and Receipt centre (DCRC) and also adhere strictly to the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India (ECI) while performing their duties.
Accompanying the DEO during the inspection were Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohd Jahangir Khan; Sub-Divisional Magistrate Thanamandi, AbidHussain; Executive Engineer PWD, Sardar Khan; District Information Officer Rajouri, AshiqRafiq Malik; and other district and sectoral officers.
DEO reviews preparedness for Assembly Election in Udhampur Distt
Udhampur: District Election Officer UdhampurSaloniRai on Wednesday convened a meeting with Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers to assess the preparations for the General Assembly Election 2024 in Udhampur District.
The meeting held in the Conference Hall DC Office Complex, focused on the electoral preparations across four Assembly constituencies of the district.
Detailed discussions were held on several key aspects related to the election process. Emphasis was placed on the correct procedure to be adopted for accepting candidate nominations, including the requirements for valid nominations etc and the subsequent actions by ROs upon receipt of these papers.
The DEO also highlighted the importance of ensuring proper videography throughout the entire nomination process, directing the installation of either 360-degree cameras or multiple CCTV cameras to comprehensively cover the proceedings. ROs and AROs were instructed to adhere strictly to the established procedures and to set up a facilitation desk for the nomination process.The DEO provided directives on the do’s and don’ts during the nomination process, the complete scrutiny procedure for received nomination papers, and the protocol for the withdrawal of candidature.
Udhampur: District Election Cell Udhampur under the supervision of District Election Officer SaloniRai, conducted an voter awareness programme under the aegis of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program here in the Government Higher Secondary School Salmerhi.
Preeti Sharma, District Panchayat Officer and Nodal Officer SVEEP, was the chief guest while Narinder Mohan Suri, CEO Udhampurwas the guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, the Nodal Officer sensitized the students and staff members, emphasizing the critical importance of each vote in shaping the future of governance. She urged all participants to not only exercise their voting rights but also to encourage others in their communities to do the same.
The event also featured a thematic cultural performance and a Mehndi design competition. Following these activities, a musical chairs game was organized by the District Election Cell at the Sports Stadium Udhampur, where students and other stakeholders actively participated.

Udhampur : In line with the directives from District Election Officer SaloniRai, the Electoral Registration Officer (SDM) Ramnagar, Rafiq Ahmad Jaral, has laid out a comprehensive plan for SVEEP activities to ensure maximum voter awareness and participation in the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections scheduled for 1st October 2024.
The first phase of this initiative began Wednesday at High School Surni, where an impactful SVEEP program was successfully conducted, engaging around 300 people including future voters.
The event aimed to educate and inspire voters on the importance of their participation in the democratic process, utilizing a mix of engaging and culturally resonant activities. The program featured NukkadNatak thought-provoking speeches by students, and vibrant cultural performances, including traditional Dogri folk songs. These activities not only entertained but also effectively communicated the crucial message of voter participation and the significance of every vote in the upcoming elections.
The event among others was attended by Vijay Kumar, Headmaster of High School Surni, ZaffarIqbal, NaibTehsildarDalsar and locals.
The Nodal Officer for SVEEP, AC-62 Ramnagar, Rakesh Kumar (Lecturer of Physical Education), addressed the gathering; stressing the critical role that voting plays in a democracy. He encouraged the voters not only to cast their votes in the forthcoming elections but also to motivate others in their community to do the same, thereby strengthening the democratic process. NaibTehsildarDalsar and Headmaster High School Surni also expressed their thoughts on the topic, who reiterated the importance of electoral participation in the government formation. They stressed on the students to carry the message to their villages and hamlets and aware their parents and relatives.
The program concluded with a collective voter’s pledge, affirming their commitment to participate on polling day.

First round of training for Presiding Officers, Polling Officers commences in Distt Kishtwar
Kishtwar: In the run-up to Assembly Election 2024, the first round of training for Presiding Officers (POs) and Polling Officers commenced here Wednesday in District Kishtwar.
The training program was conducted under the overall supervision of District Election Officer Rajesh Kumar Shavan and close supervision of AROs of three ACs at designated Centers.
As many as 854 POs and Polling Officers were imparted hands-on training by Nodal Officer Training Riyaz Ahmed Butt in coordination with District Level Master trainers.
The polling staff was exhorted to understand and adhere to rules and regulations diligently and perform their duties with utmost dedication, zeal and zest.
Furthermore, emphasis was laid on maintaining mutual cooperation and support during the election process. Thrust was also placed on learning and strictly adhering to timeliness.
The Master Trainers imparted training related to VVPAT/EVM and other election-related activities including documents, besides discussing duties and precautions to be observed by Presiding Officers.
Voter awareness drive under SVEEP continues in Ramban
Ramban: As part of the ongoing voter awareness efforts, a series of events were held here on Wednesday under the aegis of SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) program.
A mega event was held at Government Higher Secondary School, Chamalwas in the 55-Banihal constituency.
The initiative, held under the overall supervision of District Election Officer (DEO), Baseer-Ul-HaqChaudhary, aims to empower voters, particularly in areas with historically low voter turnout, and to encourage active participation in the democratic process.
The event was organized by a team comprising Assistant Nodal Officer Manjeet Singh, Abdul Hamid, SurajParkash (Trainer), and SVEEP Nodal Officer 55-Banihal, Jamshed Ahmed Khan, under the supervision of District Nodal Officer SVEEP Bikram Singh. The SVEEP team from AC-55 Banihal also played a key role in the program, contributing to the collective effort to educate and engage voters.
The program saw a huge participation of prominent citizens, women, and students, all showing interest in the electoral process. The district administration focused on encouraging voter participation in areas that have traditionally seen low turnout, urging all eligible citizens to vote in the upcoming elections.
