Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two accused for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals case in Kulgam and also seized two vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar along with a team of geology and mining department Kulgam seized 2 vehicles (Dumpers) and arrested 2 drivers involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals at Manigam Crossing.
Stating that a case under FIR No 208/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund, Police in its statement further said that further investigation into the case is underway.
In the concluding para of itsabove quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and subsequently appealed locals to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
