Theft cases cracked in Ang, 5 arrested, stolen property also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has successfully cracked multiple theft cases in Anantnag, leading to the arrest of five individuals from the Kokernag area and also recovered stolen property worth lacs from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said “a special team constitued in collaboration with ESU Anantnag, developed a technical lead that ultimately resulted in the arrested of five accused. Stating that the said five accused were identified as Mohd Imran HajamS/o Mohd ShabanR/o Wan Devalgam, Nasir Ahmad Dar, S/o Showkat Dar R/o Tangpawa Kokernag, AdilHussain Dar S/o Ali Mohd Dar R/o Nagam, Shabir Ahmad Wagay S/o Gh Hassan R/o Nagam Kokernag and Arshid Hussain Rather S/o Mohd Akbar R/o Sultanpora Pattan, Police in its statement further said that on the disclosure of the said accused stolen property including 5 gold coins, 5 gold rings, 4 pairs of ear-rings, 1 pendant set, 1 gold chain, 1 gold necklace with pendant, 3 mobile phones, besides cash amount of ₹36,000/- were recovered from their possession. Police in its statement furthermore said that the two vehicles used in the commission of these crimes were also seized, adding therein that cases under FIR No. 83/2024 and FIR No. 05/2024 under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Kokernag besides initiating further investigations.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by reporting any suspicious activities in their neighbourhood and sought Cooperation from cross sections of society in maintaining safety and security across the district.
