Police cracks Jammu murder case, 11 arrested

Jammu : Jammu Police have successfully resolved the case of the abduction and murder of a cab driver from Jammu, by apprehending a gang of interstate criminals from Haryana.
Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu, Joginder Singh on Saturday said that the police were able to recover Mangal Singh’s body from the Bajalta Morh area in Nagrotafollowing the gang’s disclosure.
Sharing details, he said that on August 19, cab driver, Mangal Singh’s brother lodged a complaint after he failed to return home from Katra.
On August 21, the SSP said that the case was escalated with the filing of an FIR when it was suspected that Mangal Singh had been abducted, based on CCTV footage.
Jammu Police, led by Inspector Parvez Sajad, Station House Officer, Nagrota and Inspector Nishant Gupta, SHO Jhajjar Kotli closely supervised by SP Rural Jammu, Brijesh Sharma meticulously collected and analyzed CCTV footage from various locations, along with call data records and hotel records in Katra.
This investigation led them to a a crucial lead technical lead.
Following this, the top cop said that the police team led by SHO Nagrota traveled to Sirsa, Haryana, where they, with the assistance of the local police and counter-intelligence unit, conducted raids at multiple locations.
They successfully apprehended 11 accused involved in the crime (conspiracy and harbouring)and also recovered the snatched Innova vehicle from their possession.
The accused were identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, Sukhvinder Singh alias Preet, Gursavak Singh alias Sevak, Gurdeep Singh alias Bana, Lucky Singh, Sahil alias Tara Singh, Arjun alias Katiya, Lucky Singh, Gopal Kumar alias Gopi and Gurjeet Singh, all residents of Nagal Tehsil-Ratia, District Fatehbad, Haryana and Kuldeep Singh alias Kala of Sardulgargh, Punjab gang conspired in Katra to abduct Mangal Singh and with criminal intent, brutally murdered him near Bajalta, where they later disposed off his body, said the SSP.
He said that the body was recovered in the presence of the victim’s family and prominent local members, adding, “following the postmortem, the body was handed over to his legal heirs for the last rites.” The charges against the accused have been updated to include sections 103 BNS and other relevant sections, he said.
