Jammu: In a recent operation, Jammu Police have registered an FIR against an individual for the sale of banned Nylon thread, commonly known as Chinese manja or Gattu Dor, in Akhnoor. Acting on reliable intelligence, a police team from the Akhnoor police station conducted raids on various kite-selling shops in the area.
During the operation, authorities seized 19 rolls of the prohibited Nylon thread from a vendor identified as Rohit Gupta, son of the late Bharat Bhushan Gupta, a resident of Manda, Akhnoor. The thread, which is manufactured in China, is banned in District Jammu due to safety concerns. An FIR has been filed against Gupta under the relevant legal provisions, and further investigation is ongoing. Jammu Police have reiterated their warning to the public, emphasizing that the use and sale of Chinese threads, or ‘Gattu,’ are prohibited and that violators will face strict legal action.
