2-burglary cases solved in Sopore, Stolen property worth Lacs recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has solved two burglary cases by arresting three accused involved in the commission of crime and also recovered stolen property worth lacs from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Police Station Sopore on 27th July this year received a written complaint from one Gulshana Begum W/o Aashiq Hussain R/o Kralteng Sopore who stated therein that she went her son’s home residing nearby her house but after returning back to her house, she found her jewellery stolen from the house.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 176/2024 under section 331(3) and 305 of IPC Act at Police Station Sopore was registered in this connection besides initiating investigation into the case, Police in its statement further said that an investigation team comprising of SHO Police Station Sopore and other officials of the Police Station under the supervision of SDPO Sopore was constituted and during the course of investigation the investigating team with strenuous efforts apprehended one Saqib Lateef Sofi S/o Abdul Lateef Sofi R/o Sempora Sopore who during investigation confessed his involvement in the crime.
Police in its statement further said that the investigation revealed the involvement of two more suspects Aabid Ahmad Lone S/o Ghulam Mohiudin Lone R/o Zaloora Sopore, and Shakoor Ahmad Zargar, S/o Mohammad Shafi Zargar, R/o Nigeenbagh Sopore (owner of S S Jewelers in Iqbal Market, Sopore), Police in its statement furthermore said that all the accused were arrested.
Stating that from the possession of the said accused stolen property including 1 Kitty set, 9 Golden Rings, 1 Jumka big, 1 Jumka small, 5 Golden Coins (Ponds) and 2 Ear Rings (total valued ₹6,10,000) were recovered, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement said that cash amount of ₹1,30,000 was also recovered from the possession of accused Saqib Ahmad Sofi involved in case FIR No. 200/2024, in which burglary had taken place at Iqbal Nagar Sopore on 14 August this year.
