Jammu : A hit-and-run accident occurred in the jurisdiction of Police Station Arnia, in the border village of Allah.
The police spokesman said the accused, identified as Shubham Choudhary, son of Ajit Ram, was driving a light motor vehicle when he collided with two motorcycles, severely injuring all five individuals on the motorcycles, including both the riders and pillion passengers.
“During the investigation, one of the riders, Kamaljit, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment. The accused also sustained minor injuries and was undergoing treatment,” he said.
The spokesman said that residents of Border Police Post Allah staged a protest, demanding the arrest of the accused. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the police swiftly apprehended the accused, who was reportedly evading arrest.
“It is important to note that the parents of the deceased had been vocally demanding the arrest of the accused as per the law.”
The spokesman said that police personnel from Police Station Arnia, led by SHO Arnia, successfully arrested the accused, delivering prompt justice to the family of the deceased and the other injured individuals still receiving treatment.
