“Day One: Unveiling New Horizons: – IIM Jammu’s Holistic Orientation Program for IPM Batch 2024-29”

Jammu : IIM Jammu kicked off its three-day orientation program for the fourth batch of the Integrated Program in Management (IPM) on August 22, 2024, at the Mandapam Auditorium, Jagti Campus. The event marked the start of an exciting journey for the new batch, with insightful sessions and engaging activities designed to help students acclimate to their new environment. A day prior, parents had the opportunity to engage in a lively discussion with Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu.
According to a statement issued here, the program began with a refreshing “Maximize Happiness and Mindfulness” session led by Yoga Guru Mr. SahilMehra, followed by a comprehensive tour of the Jagti Campus. The day’s events were moderated by Dr. AnujaAkhouri, Chairperson, Corporate Communications.
Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, in his welcome address, urged students to focus on building a strong foundation through the first three years of their program, stressing the importance of academic excellence, discipline, and leadership. He highlighted IIM Jammu’s vision to create job creators and leaders through its Centres of Excellence in Innovation and Small Business Development, and emphasized the importance of curiosity, networking, and dedication to the nation.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, encouraged students to actively engage in campus life and work hard to achieve their goals. Dr. RashmiRanjanParida, Chairperson (Admissions), presented the diverse student profiles, while Dr. Ashish Kumar, Chairperson, IPM, outlined the program’s alignment with NEP 2020 and emphasized the importance of critical thinking and extracurricular involvement.
The formal inauguration featured a traditional lamp lighting, SaraswatiVandana by 2nd-year IPM students, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. NitiShekhar, Co-chairperson (IPM), followed by the National Anthem.
The day continued with key sessions on “Academic Rigor, Pedagogy, and Expectations” by Dr. Ashish Kumar, “Academic Regulations and Discipline” by Mr. Arup Bhattacharya, and “Administrative Support, Discipline, and Security” by CmdrKesavanBaskkaran (R). Dr. Rajkumar V. and Dr. Ashish Kumar discussed “Student Life at IIM Jammu,” and Dr. Jai Kamal reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to a ragging-free campus. Sessions on “International Accreditation & Ranking” by Dr. Rajkumar V., and “Social and Corporate Internships” by Dr. RashmiRanjanParida and Mr. AtanuDatta, rounded out the academic focus.
The day concluded with an interactive session with the Council, Committee, and Club Members, providing students with an opportunity to explore the vibrant extracurricular landscape at IIM Jammu.
IIM Jammu successfully concluded Day One of the orientation program, setting a strong foundation for the new batch as they embark on their academic journey. The institute remains committed to excellence, collaboration, and holistic development.
