Pre-poll alliance finalised with Congress, says Farooq Abdullah

“The alliance has been done on all 90 seats of Jammu and Kashmir”, he said

Srinagar, Aug 22: National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah Thursday said that pre-poll alliance with Congress is final, and will be approved by this evening.

The alliance is on track and it will go on well with God’s grace. It is however final and will be approved by this evening,” Dr. Farooq was speaking to reporters after meeting held with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Malikarjun Kharge at his Gupkar residence in Srinagar.

“The documents will be signed and will be done by today evening,” Dr Farooq said and added, “The alliance has been done on all 90 seats of Jammu and Kashmir”.

The NC president said that Congress, NC and CPI(M) are on the same page and will fight Assembly elections together. He hoped that with the collective efforts of the alliance the statehood to Jammu and Kashmir will be returned.

However he maintained that doors are still open for everyone to join the alliance and give befitting reply to those who damaged country’s institutions and its secular fabric.

To a query he replied that meeting with Congress chief Malikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi took place in a very cordial atmosphere.

On Wednesday Congress national president Malkarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi arrived on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to hold deliberations with party leaders and workers ahead of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

Both leaders left for Jammu on Thursday afternoon after holding meeting with National Conference (NC) leadership in Srinagar.
