Cyber Police Handwara cracks down on online scams, freezed accounts, recovers Rs 127000

Srinagar : The Cyber Unit Handwara on Wednesday achieved significant success in its ongoing efforts to combat financial fraud, freezing /recovered rupees 1,27000 in two separate online scam cases.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in both the cases, the victims were lured by a web links, promising hafty returns. The scam involved convincing the victims to invest money with the promise of high returns. Initially, small tasks with quick returns were provided to bait the victims. Gradually, they were asked to invest larger amounts, which led to significant financial losses. The Cyber Unit Handwara promptly analysed and recovered Rs. 1,1000 and Rs 1,16000 has been freezed.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police again warned people to be vigilant against such scams and asserted that no legitimate investment scheme offers quick and substantial returns. Police also appealed people to avoid falling for such fraudulent schemes and to invest wisely.
