Ganderbal Police Arrest Notorious Drug Peddler, Seize Contraband Substance

Srinagar : Continuing its relentless fight against the drug menace, J&K Police District Ganderbal has arrested a notorious drug peddler within the jurisdiction of Police Station Ganderbal, recovering a significant quantity of contraband substance.
Acting on credible information received from reliable sources, the Ganderbal Police identified the suspect as Omer Fayaz Bhat, son of Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Shaltang, Srinagar. Bhat, who worked as a private driver with SSB 03CC at Rakh Harran Forest Protection Unit, Ganderbal, was reported to have concealed a contraband substance resembling brown sugar in a forest hut at Rakh Harran, with the intention of selling it to local youth.
Under the directives of SSP Ganderbal, Shri Wasim Qadri-JKPS, a special police team led by SHO PS Ganderbal, Shri Manzoor Ahmad, swiftly acted on the information. The team, accompanied by an Executive Magistrate 1st class, conducted a thorough search of the hut, resulting in the recovery and seizure of the contraband substance. The accused, Omer Fayaz Bhat, was subsequently arrested.
A case has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal under FIR No. 210/2024, in accordance with the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
The J&K Police District Ganderbal reiterates its commitment to eradicating the roots of the drug menace from society. The police urge the general public, particularly respectable citizens, to come forward with information about drug peddlers, to help protect the younger generation from falling prey to this dangerous abuse
