DEO Ramban reviews election preparedness for smooth conduct of Assembly Polls
Ramban : District Election Officer (DEO) Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary on Monday chaired a meeting of officers to discuss the district’s preparedness for Assembly Elections-2024.
The meeting focused on ensuring a free, fair, and transparent election process.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police, Kulbir Singh; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Varunjeet Singh; Returning Officer for AC-54 Ramban (ACR) S. Harpal Singh; RO for AC-55 Banihal, Rizwan Asgar; (SDM) Ramsoo, Ghansham Basotra; Deputy District Election Officer, Abdul Jabar; AROs; Nodal Officers, and other concerned officers.
During the meeting, the DEO emphasized the importance of adherence to the rules, regulations, and guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India to ensure a level playing field for all contestants, including political parties and independent candidates.
He also outlined the roles and responsibilities of various departments and officials during the ongoing election preparations and stressed the need for effective communication.
The DEO reviewed the arrangements related to communication, security, transport, training, polling stations, and other critical components of the election process.
The DEO issued directions for the strict implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) throughout the district during the election period. He also instructed officers to ensure that essential services and supplies remain uninterrupted, despite the ongoing election activities.
The DEO also directed all the surveillance teams and flying squads to ensure vigilant monitoring as per the guidelines, to curb unethical and illegal activities during the election across the district.
SSP Kulbir Singh discussed various points regarding security and law and order situation during the election period. He emphasized the need for coordinated efforts between officers and various departments’ level to ensure the smooth conduct of elections across the district.

DEO Poonch convenes meeting with representatives of Political Parties
Poonch : The District Election Officer (DEO) Poonch, Vikas Kundal, convened a meeting with representatives of various political parties to discuss the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and other applicable guidelines of the Election Commission of India, in view of the upcoming Assembly Election-2024.
During the meeting, the DEO emphasized the importance of seeking prior permission for election campaigning, rallies, and the use of loudspeakers. He stressed the significance of adhering to the Model Code of Conduct, which is crucial for ensuring free and fair elections.
He outlined the responsibilities of political parties and their candidates in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.
The discussion also covered logistical arrangements, voter education, and measures to enhance transparency and prevent electoral malpractice. Representatives from the political parties expressed their concerns and suggestions, which were acknowledged and discussed in detail.
The representatives present at the meeting appreciated the efforts of the District Administration, particularly for their cooperation during the conduct of the last Lok Sabha Election 2024, especially in the timely issuance of permissions to political parties. The meeting was attended by ADC Tahir Mustafa Malik, Election Officials, alongside representatives from various political parties.

DEO Rajouri reviews Election preparations in the district
Rajouri :: District Election Officer (DEO) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, on Monday chaired a comprehensive review meeting with District Nodal Officers at Dak Bungalow Rajouri to assess and advance the preparations for the upcoming elections in the district.
The meeting focused on a wide range of critical issues, including the number of polling stations, the recent visits of RO’s to polling stations, vulnerability mapping, and the status of counting and strong rooms. DEO, Sharma also reviewed the Elector Population (EP) ratio, the plan for home voting, transport logistics, and the communication plan to ensure smooth election conduct.
DEO Sharma issued specific instructions for conducting mock drills in vulnerable polling stations, particularly those near the Line of Control (LOC). Emphasizing the importance of security and transparency, he directed the installation of two cameras; one inside and one outside each polling station. Additionally, he called for the training of videographers who will be assigned to home voting operations.
The DEO also instructed Returning Officers to hold meetings with sector officers and representatives of political parties. He emphasized the need to designate intermediate strong rooms at select locations to address any potential security issues during the elections.
A significant directive was given to identify polling stations with a history of ceasefire violations or clashes to ensure enhanced security and vigilance in those areas.
He urged all officers to thoroughly familiarize themselves with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI) to avoid any lapses. Special emphasis was placed on the strict enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) protocols, and expenditure management.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Raj Kumar Thapa, ADC Rajouri, Rajeev Kumar Khajuria; ADC Sunderbani, Rajeev Magotra; ADC Nowshera, Babu Ram Tandan; ADC Kalakote, Mohd Tanveer; ADC Kotranka, Dilmir; Deputy DEO, Shakeel Malik; along with all other ROs, Nodal Officers, and concerned officials.

DEO Rajouri convenes meeting with political parties ahead of Assembly Elections 2024
Rajouri : In a significant step towards ensuring the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Assembly Elections, District Election Officer (DEO) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, on Monday chaired a crucial meeting with representatives from various political parties. The meeting focused on the importance of upholding the highest ethical standards as per the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and other guidelines established by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
During the session, key discussions were held on critical issues including adherence to MCC provisions, the process for obtaining permissions for media advertisements, campaign logistics, and the timely initiation of candidate bank accounts as per the ECI’s stipulations.
DEO Sharma emphasized the collective responsibility of all political stakeholders to maintain integrity, fairness, and transparency throughout the electoral process. He reiterated the pivotal role of political parties in upholding the democratic values of the nation, urging their full cooperation and strict adherence to the ECI’s guidelines.
DEO Sharma expressed confidence in the cooperation of all political parties, ensuring a conducive environment for the upcoming Assembly Elections.
The meeting was attended by several distinguished officials including ADDC Rajouri, Raj Kumar Thapa; DIO NIC, Muzaffar Mir; Deputy DEO, Shakeel Malik; and representatives from various political parties.

ADDC Doda reviews election preparedness in the Distt
Doda : With the implementation of Model Code of Conduct, a meeting regarding election preparedness, the ADDC Doda Pran Singh (Nodal officer MCC Doda) convened a crucial meeting for the upcoming Assembly Elections-2024 at DC Office.
The meeting was attended by the ROs, Dy District Election Officer Doda, Master Trainers, members of Assistant Expenditure observers, Flying Squads teams, Static surveillance teams, Video surveillance teams, Video Viewing teams, Accounting teams and team of Media cell Doda.
During the meeting, ADDC Doda emphasized the importance of being well- versed in the legal framework, monitoring and enforcement mechanisms and reporting requirements related to election expenditure monitoring.
He highlighted the significance of transparency and accountability in the electoral process and urged the team to uphold these principles.
He also directed the Media Certification and Monitoring Cell to conduct social media monitoring, as well as monitor paid news and other advertisements in print and print electronic media during the election process.
Special emphasis was placed on the polling station and the formation of static surveillance teams and flying squads teams was also discussed in the meeting.

Expenditure Observer visits Ramban, takes firsthand appraisal of arrangements
Ramban : The Expenditure Observer for the Assembly Elections-2024 for District Ramban, Sulekh Chand Jain visited the district headquarters to review election preparedness across all aspects.
Accompanied by District Election Officer (DEO) Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, and SSP Kulbir Singh, the Expenditure Observer inspected key locations to take firsthand appraisal about election arrangements, including the office of the Returning Officer for AC-54 Ramban, the Strong Room, and the 24×7 Election Control Room established within the District Administrative Complex, Maitra Ramban.
The DEO provided a comprehensive briefing on the district’s geography and the preparations undertaken by the District Administration and Police Department to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election, with equal opportunities for all contestants. Additionally, the DEO shared the status of the final voter lists under the 2nd Special Summary Revision (SSR) – 2024 and highlighted the arrangements being made at polling stations to facilitate voters from all sections of society.
The DEO also briefed the Expenditure Observer about election expenditure in previous elections made by the contestants and other significant information in this regard.
The visit was attended by Returning Officer AC-54 Ramban, S. Harpal Singh, Dy. DEO Abdul Jabar, and other concerned officers.

DEO Kishtwar holds Maiden online interactive meeting with BLOs
Kishtwar : The Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, who also serves as the District Election Officer, on Monday convened his maiden interactive meeting with all the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of the district through online mode.
The meeting focused on apprising the BLOs of their critical roles and responsibilities in the upcoming General Election to the Legislative Assembly, scheduled for September 18, 2024, in Kishtwar.
During the separate interaction session with BLOs of all the three Assembly Constituencies Viz 48-Inderwal, 49-Kishtwar, and 50-Nagseni Paddar, the DEO emphasized the pivotal role BLOs will play in ensuring the free, fair and smooth Assembly Election in the district.
He urged the officers to commence the mapping exercise immediately, with particular attention to facilitating the participation of Persons with Disabilities (PWD), elderly voters, and nomadic communities in the upcoming elections.
The DEO further discussed strategies to maximize voter turnout, underscoring the importance of the BLOs working in close coordination with the District Election Authority and other stakeholders. He highlighted the need for extensive voter sensitization efforts under SVEEP campaign to encourage maximum awareness of Voting Rights.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the responsibilities of BLOs in overseeing the logistics, Sanitation, Assured Minimum Facility (AMF) at all 428 polling stations particularly in Modal Polling stations in the district.
The meeting was also attended by RO 49-Kishtwar/ADC Kishtwar Pawan Kotwal, RO 48-Inderwal /Dy DEO Kishtwar Idrees Lone, RO 50-Nagseni Paddar/SDM Paddar Amit Kumar, ENT Angrez Singh Jasrotia, besides other officials.

DEO Rajouri convenes meeting with Media Persons
Rajouri : District Election Officer (DEO) Abhishek Sharma, on Monday presided over an important meeting with media persons from across the district at Dak Bungalow Rajouri which was centered on ensuring a transparent and impartial Assembly Elections 2024 in the district.
During the session, DEO Rajouri highlighted the crucial role of the media in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. He emphasized the need for objective reporting and urged media outlets to deliver balanced and accurate coverage throughout the election period. Additionally, he stressed the responsibilities of the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) in overseeing election-related content to prevent misinformation and ensure compliance with the guidelines established by the Election Commission of India.
The media persons in attendance assured the DEO of their commitment to fair and responsible journalism during the elections.
The meeting also underscored the importance of covering events related to the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative.
Active participation was observed from the ADC Rajouri, Rajiv Khajuria, Deputy DEO Shakeel Malik, DIO Ashiq Rafiq Malik, and media persons from various outlets across the district.
