CRPF Inspector Killed In Udhampur Encounter

Udhampur: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Inspector who was injured during an encounter between militants and security forces in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, succumbed to the injuries.
The deceased inspector has been identified as Kuldeep Singh who lost his life in the operation.
“A joint patrol party of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police came under heavy fire from militants in the Cheel, Dudu area of Udhampur District Monday. CRPF Inspector Kuldeep Singh lost his life in the operation,” said police officials. Meanwhile, security has been tightened in the area.
CRPF posted on X, “On 19 August, in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, brave Inspector Kuldeep Kumar of 187 Battalion CRPF sacrificed his life on the altar of duty while fighting the militants. CRPF salutes our brave soldier’s indomitable courage, valour and devotion to the motherland. We always stand with the family of our brave man.”
Earlier in the day it was reported that an encounter broke out between militants and security forces on Monday in Dudu village of the Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir.Notably, Jammu and Kashmir is going to witness the elections after a gap of 10 years, as the last assembly election was held in 2014.
The polling in the UT will be held in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, as per the Election Commission of India. The counting of the votes will take place on October 4. There are a total of 90 assembly constituencies, of which 74 are general, nine are ST, and seven are SC. Earlier on August 14, one militant was killed by security forces during an encounter in Doda district.
“One militant has been neutralised in the ongoing operation. One AK 47 has been recovered in addition to the M4 rifle. Intermittent exchange of firing continues as the operations are ongoing,” White Knight Corps said.
Additional Director General of Police Anand Jain visited Doda as the Indian Army and J-K Police continued their search operation in the area.An Indian Army captain also lost his life while leading a search operation during the encounter.
